Would be nice to just add a new attribute called renderAsComboBox.

Here's a patch that implements this comboBox functionality. Hope this helps.

After applying the patch, set renderAsComboBox="true" in the <gui:autoComplete> properties, and you'll be good to go.

I don't really know how to formally submit this code, so any pointers would be much appreciated.
