      Description

Would be cool to make GSP standalone. E.g. in a "native" spring mvc application.
Just as GORM and Spring bean builder are also usable standalone.

I saw this feature scheduled on the roadmap for grails 1.3 (see http://www.grails.org/Roadmap), but:

Since I have to decide whether or not to introduce GSP in a legacy web application, I'd like to know:

        • if 1.3 will really bring standalone GSPs within the end of april (it is currently scheduled for 22/Apr/10).
        • if there is a sort of tutorial on using GSP (and custom tag libraries, and which part of convention-over-configuration still applies) without grails

Could someone please give me some feedback?

        Kind regards
        Davide

The roadmap hasn't been updated in a while - standalone GSP support will not be in 1.3. I updated the roadmap to be more accurate for this release.

        Hi,

I released Grails GSP MIN to allow using standalone GSP Template Engine in non-Grails web applications:
        http://grailsgspmin.forge.onehippo.org/

Basically, it provides simple pom dependencies to include necessary Grails libraries and documentation on how to configure it in a web application.

Initially, I created the project to use GSP templates in HST-2 applications, but GSP Templating is available in any normal web applications. So Grails GSP MIN also contains a demo web application project:
        http://forge.onehippo.org/svn/grailsgspmin/grailsgspmin/trunk/application/
You can build with `mvn clean install' and run with `mvn jetty:run'.

        Any comment will be welcomed.

        Cheers,

        Woonsan
